We have made it to the last week of school! Your child will have many different activities this week to enjoy and continue learning in all aspects of life.
- Please check your child's agenda every day for homework and any new information, as well as checking and returning the weekly Wednesday folder by Friday.
- Please be sure to go over all papers in your child's weekly Wed. folder with your child. It is more beneficial for your child to have support both at school and at home. The more people who can help and answer questions, the stronger the foundation is for your child's academic experience.
- The students are working on reading and writing skills together to complete social studies assignments before taking the final assessment on economics.
- The students will bring home their math workbooks. Please use them over the summer to keep their skills sharp and be better prepared to start next year.
- All of the sites your child has had access to during the school year will still be accessible over the summer. Using them for 20-30 minutes daily will help keep your child's progress where it is now and also help prevent the summer slide. These are great ways to help your child be as prepared as possible to start next year off in a strong way.
- The students will spend the last week visiting other second grade teachers' classrooms to learn and practice healthy activity choices. There are lots of things to do to keep your child's brain healthy and actively engaged that increases brain growth. Some of the choices are, puzzles, board games, coloring, making crafts, playing, exercising, writing (journals, stories, letters, etc.), yoga, brain games (visual puzzles, riddles, etc.), and lots of other fun activities. These types of activities promote critical thinking skills and help fine motor skills strengthen as well as eye muscle growth. By increasing the amount of time spent on these types of activities and limiting or avoiding video games, TV, and hand held devices, your child will develop in many beneficial ways.
